The Democratic Youth Strategy Council has just launched www.runforoffice.org, a one-stop resource for progressive and Democratic activists ready to take their activism to the next level by running for office. With a simple search you can find out what elected offices YOU are qualified to run for, check out all of the qualification information, a job description, and get all the resources you need to launch an effective campaign. This tool is a huge stride forward in the fight to open up our democracy to the American people and truly create a government that is of the people, by the people, and for the people.

We know that you share with us the goal of empowering average Americans to take control of their democracy, and we need you to help us get this tool out to your members and supporters. As we have sought feedback so far we have received so many exciting ideas, like adding a social networking component so candidates can network with each other and share ideas, adding wiki issue pages so that anyone can update their state’s page with information about hot local issues they want to share with potential candidates, and a coordinated campaign to get young people to run for office. While we would love to get started with all of these awesome projects, they are beyond the resources of a small non-profit like ourselves, and we are looking for sponsors. With just a small contribution your organization could make a substantial investment in opening up our democracy to average Americans and helping progressives get elected to office.
